the 2006 chevy rock 'n roll four hundred at richmond

(to the song "one week" by the barenaked ladies)

it’s been one week since the seventeen

got a top ten and took johnson’s point lead

the chase was almost ready

but kasey kahne won and trailed just by thirty

nine guys vied for just eight spots

and harvick’s third place was not even a lock

then one day came the final heat

but it’ll still be ten weeks ‘till one gets the trophy

martin truex had a late push

was nudged by kurt busch

he blew two right fronts and then went "wham;"

the edwards spin for johnson began the trouble he was in

he took out jeff green who later into his door ran;

all dave blaniacs had a good night

he had a top five

schrader discovered a fast groove;

jeff gordon had some problems

two laps, he lost them

while kasey kahne, up front he moved;

and rob reiser was not so sure

he had a cure for for kenseth’s blurb:

"check all my pads out, ‘cause i think they’re put on backwards"

and stress was on poor hamlin’s mom

who watched her son with emotion

and crossed her fingers ‘cause she didn’t want to say words

in the chase, you should get more points if you win

maybe twelve cars are better than ten

(should) inconsistence pay if you win a lot?

do the top ten need a separate point plot?

what’re all those answers, i guess i’ll wait and see

so, too, i am sure, will stewart

it’s been one week since the seventeen

nine guys vied for just eight spots

and harvick’s third place was not even a lock

then one day came the final heat

but it’ll still be ten weeks ‘till one gets the trophy

late in the race came some odd attrition

the points were tight and some cars were slippin’

junior’s brake fluid was leaking

his pads were squeaking

he pumped his pedal fast up and down;

and denny then needed a wire

his car misfired

and he just let the leaders go by;

but tony stewart got the short end

you know what happened?

he’s stuck as the eleventh-place guy;

that night we know was kyle’s show

he passed ‘em fast, but did win, no

yet he got second and earned his ten points easy

until kevin reeled him in without a spin

he got the win on the last lap, that made for good t.v.

in the chase, you should get more points if you win

maybe twelve cars are better than ten

(should) inconsistence pay if you win a lot?

do the top ten need a separate point plot?

what’re all those answers, i guess i’ll wait and see

so, too, i am sure, will stewart

and now, next week on the seventeenth

new hampshire will welcome the "chasees"

forty-five points on through

between kenseth, johnson, harvick, on down to kasey’s crew

ten will vie for just one spot

and harvick’s third win brought momentum and shock

now we’re way past the final heat

but it’ll still be ten weeks ‘till one gets the trophy

it’ll still be ten weeks ‘till one gets the trophy

it’ll still be ten weeks ‘till one gets the trophy

michael waltrip, please look out for robby—
