the 2006 neighborhood excellence four hundred at dover

(to the song "runnin' down a dream" by tom petty and the heartbreakers)

it was a bright june day in dover town

four hundred laps upon a monster mile.

cars flew by and the crowd was cheerin’,

the car that led the way was dogpiled.

but runnin’ down jamie

was anythin’ but easy

though his car ran way too free

position on track was key

to claim the vict’ry.

johnson spun, then did the impossible

got the lucky dog, grabbed sixth place.

smoke let rudd drive, but then on top of it all

rudd was penalized, lost the race.

but runnin’ down jamie

was anythin’ but easy

though his car ran way too free

position on track was key

to claim the vict’ry.

whoo-oo, whoo-oo, whoo-oo. . .

busch fell back, jeff burton came

when harvick couldn’t quite hold his line.

with three laps left, kenseth ran down low

passed jamie up, said the next line:

"yeah, runnin’ down jamie

was anythin’ but easy

but we are the killer bees

we’ll swoop right into the lead

what a big vict’ry!"

so runnin’ down jamie

should now be even less easy

osborne really has the key

to give his driver the lead

headed for vict’ry!

whoo-oo, whoo-oo, whoo-oo. . .
