the 2006 aaron's four ninety-nine at talladega

(to the song "paint it, black" by the rolling stones)

restrictor plates create one big five-wide drawback:

one twitch, three wreck, and there goes half of the lead pack.

at talladega, what will happen, no one knows

who will escape "the big one" when it finally shows?

i see a red car that was this week painted black

spin out then blow up after redlining its tach.

stewart clipped the black car, but later on that same day

he still finished runner-up to johnson’s chevrolet.

kvapil’s concentration never seemed to crack;

he dodged and darted past cars spinning on the track.

casey mears was running well until he slipped and whacked

talladega’s soft walls after unwanted contact.

young brian vickers tried to pull off a nadeau

but when the lowe’s car came, his victory was through.

lepage, sorenson and blaney each had strong runs

but after a late wreck, all of their days were done.

i see the pepsi car lose partners and fall back

on the final lap, friends are what all drivers lack.

at talladega, what will happen, no one knows

who will escape "the big one" when it finally shows?

hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm. . .

jimmie won a big plate, big plate track

two times now, how ‘bout two more?

is hendrick suddenly like dei?

jimmie won a big plate, big plate, big plate, big plate track

yeah---
